Thanks for this piece on SCHIP and covering children. Colorado has one of the most miserly programs for covering kids, and it shows in our health statistics. We're right in there with Mississippi and Arkansas. 
It's crucial to cover kids â€” but we also need to cover their parents. 
Another shortcoming of SCHIP â€” and other entitlement programs that shore up the fact that our private, for-profit health insurance system doesn't work â€” is that we can't afford it. 
The Congressional Budget Office reported yesterday that Medicare and Medicaid are on their way to consuming 20 percent of the federal budget.
It's time for single-payer, universal health care. We don't need health insurance. We need health care.</description>
